Cookie banners are a perfect example of a bad implementation of a good-in-theory principle. They've created an anti-pattern in user behavior where people immediately click and dismiss banners without reading them, making the entire exercise pointless. Meanwhile, EU bureaucracy continues to hinder the investment power of EU companies with such misguided regulations.
My website now has self-hosted analytics (implementation commit) that respects your privacy choices (see code) and stores no cookies. It tracks basic page views and interactions without any cross-site tracking or targeting data.
I support initiatives like eu/acc and AVE Europe to spread awareness and drive positive change.
